The Capitol complex was placed on lockdown this afternoon, according to ABC News.
Police were investigating reports of a man with a gun, with a stopped car about two blocks north of the Capitol building.
Two people were taken into police custody.
Capitol staff received an email saying that police activity had been reported on Capitol Hill. The email noted that staff should stay away from windows and external doors, and to seek shelter.
The lockdown did not restrict movement inside the Capitol, but did restrict movement in and out of the complex itself.
We will continue to monitor this story and update it as we get more information.
