Kyle Senkowicz, 25, grew up in Delray Beach, and now fishes three or four times a week, according to friends.
Senkowicz has numerous pictures on social media showing himself with catches of shark, tuna, swordfish and Goliath grouper, as well as swimming with a shark.
On Wednesday, the Marine who served through 2015 was bitten on the arm and wrist by a 7-foot bull shark while spearfishing off Singer Island in 60 feet of water.
Witnesses said a boat called Bullet docked at Sailfish Marina with Senkowicz lying in the back, his knees drawn up, eyes closed and blood from his arm spreading across the gunnel.
Paramedics rushed Senkowicz to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he was treated in the emergency room. He remained there Wednesday night.
A hospital spokesman said he was in fair condition.
The divers who were with Senkowicz left the dock immediately and were not available for comment.
